The Gulf of Mexico was awesome yesterday! Flat calm as far offshore as you could go! Went 20 miles offshore to a spot that held as it turned out a lot of nice red snapper! I caught 5 big red snappers! Unfortunately I only boated this one!
A bull dolphin grabbed everyone of them! I fought him for them but he won out on all but this one. I fought him on the last one for nearly 20 minutes! After that battle I was too played out to fish any more. I will go back and hopefully that lazy ass dolphin won’t be there to rob me next time.
Fishing in 105 feet of water. Fished about 3 clicks off the bottom. Water temp was 69F. Air temp 82F
Bait was live cigar minnows and choffers fished on the bottom w/ a single rig circle hook and 8 oz. lead.
Lines is 150 feet of Power Pro tied to 80 lb mono and a 40 lb fluorocarbon leader about 3 feet long.

Bobby check out the most recent post for a comparison of the red snapper to a ship that was sailing by.
