avatar-gag-grouper.jpg

Went fishing with some friends…Bill, Terry and Julia about 16 miles out on the Gulf. We caught 2 real nice grouper. One Gag Grouper and one Red Grouper, some legal snapper and a mess of Mahi Mahi chicken dolphin, Trigger fish and Scamp. Caught the first dolphin and left him in the hook in the water to keep the others around. Casted speckled trout jigs and pompano jigs tipped with squid. The action was fast and furious!

12.12.06 » Panama City Beach-The Speckled Trout Bite Is On!

HCapt. Mike Foatei folks and happy holidays, the speckled trout are starting to bite in St. Andrews Bay and the creeks. Its not a frenzy…except for the amount of boaters…there no shortage on fisherman that’s for sure! Even during the week…don’t these fisherman have jobs! ;-)

Crooked Creek is getting fished pretty hard. If you want to go catching it’ll help to use live shrimp and I have had pretty good luck with the Berkley Gulp products. Good luck and good fishing!

1.11.06 » Red Snapper Fishing-Gulf Of Mexico-Last Day of Snapper Season!

Capt. Mike FoateAwesome day on the water! The snapper fishing was slow for keeper size…one keeper snapper but the red grouper made up for the lack of snapper! Caught 2 reds, released one. Caught some nice trigger fish too! Also caught one shark.

Red Grouper

Water conditions were 2-3 foot waves subsiding to 1-2 foot waves. Air temp 80 degrees…ya gotta love that! Fished with cut bait squid-double hook rigg, chummed with old cigar minnows. Once the bite started, fished single hook rig for grouper. Grouper bait was live choffers.
